“For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.”
(Psalm 139:13-16)
God ordained and planned your life before He spoke the Universe into existence. He ordained the day of your conception, the day of your birth, and the day of your death. God is the author of life, the sustainer of life, and the consummator of all earthly life by His providence.
Abortion is premeditated murder. Murder is the killing of a human being with intent to kill (malice aforethought). It is condemned by God and worthy of damnation in hell. In our post-Christian culture, the murder of the unborn is subjected to the choice of the mother bearing the child. It is culturally accepted as pre-birth, partial birth, and of post birth, as seen in the damnable practice of removing a child to harvest its organs for sale. Culture willfully accepts abortion as normal solution to an unwanted pregnancy, particularly in cases of rape, incest, or the health of the mother.
Those who accept abortion fail to understand one of the foundational principles of the Judeo-Christian religion: It is never right to do wrong in order to get a chance to do right. Can an expectant mother claim impunity in the murder of her unborn child because our culture says she can make the choice to end its life? When a woman suffers the violent act of rape and conceives a child, is it morally acceptable to murder the child prior to its birth? When an expectant mother’s life is threatened due to pregnancy, is it acceptable to take the life of the unborn child to prevent harm or death to the mother? Who is in charge here, God or the mother?
As far as God is concerned, there is no “right” reason for the abortion of a baby. A “fetus” is an unborn child, as the discovery of DNA has proved. A mother’s health and viability are in the hands of God. God may permit the horrendous act of rape or incest, but He will judge the perpetrator of the evil act. God may permit weakness or sickness to threaten one’s life. However, the ravages of sin will curse our world until God concludes human history. We have several options in this matter.
The negative option is to perform a “wrong” act to obtain a desired result. If you stick your hand in a fire to pick up a treasured item, you will get burned. If you take the life of an unborn child to free you of the responsibility for that child, you break God’s law of life and the unborn child’s right to life.
America has much to learn about the evils of abortion. Since the passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973, over 55 million unborn infants have been murdered in America. If the American populace, including professing Christians, think God has not noticed this holocaust, 7 times worse than the Nazi holocaust of Jews in Europe, then we are too blind to notice that the judgment of God has already begun.
In spite of the hideousness of abortion and the callous barbarity of selling fetal parts for any purpose, there is hope for those caught in this web of deceit and radical depravity. The positive option is that of the grace of God in the forgiveness of this atrocious sin. There is no sin that any of us sinners couldn’t commit under the proper provocation. However, the God of grace has provided a means of justification for repentant sinners through the Person and Work of His Son, Jesus Christ. The repentant thief on the Cross next to Jesus on Golgotha said, “Jesus, remember me, when you come into your kingdom.” To which Jesus replied, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
I believe a good portion of the inhabitants of Heaven will be the unborn children who were slaughtered by abortion. Then they will be whole persons. God has a special place for them. And like the thief on the cross, those involved in this horrendous trade, who repent of their sin, will also know Paradise beyond the filthiness of sin that enslaves our world today.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. For he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.
(John 3:16-21)
